Embracing the hard….

Our Needs:
us a missionaries as missionaries, as well as individuals. individuals to join our support team. We want to ensure that we have a solid base of supporters before leaving again. Sources tell us that this takes about 2 years; hence our goal of returning to the field in 2010. Therefore, in the meantime, we are asking that those of you visit with us about what we believe God has called us to do will pray and ask Him if you are called to join us in our mission either financially or prayerfully. We ask that if you are called to join us, that you begin your support immediately because it is easy to find other places for money and time to be spent. You are an important part of our mission overseas. We value your role in our ministry.
We are looking for monthly commitments that total at least:$1,500/month (this may change as time goes on--but it's our estimate for now).

Life as I know it...
is completely different than I thought it would be. We've been back from Jamaica for about 3 months now and I feel like we've gone through strange, stunted phases that brought us from point A to this new point, which is definitely not point B...it wasn't even on my original map. But the one thing I continue to hold on to is that I was never off of God's map. Maybe that sounds cliche, but I'm so thankful that at least some higher being in my life had a greater hold and control over our plans and decisions than we did.
Since August 10th, we have found a place to live, and thanks to friends and family, we are all moved in with livingroom furniture even! Joey has a job at Bridges of Iowa which is a drug and alcohol rehibilitation center for convicted felons. He has also gone back to school and is pursuing his graphic design degree through an online program with Academy of Art. He's really enjoying what he's learning and he's doing a wonderful job p]]>

We recognize that it may seem odd for people who are not currently home on furlough trying the mission field to continue to raise support while we are at home. Coming back to America and having to suddenly find jobs and a place to live and a car drive is so huge. Each one of those is a gigantic mountain for us. A mountain that we often feel like we are failing at climbing or hurdling. The finances to conquer each mountain seem insurmountable. And I think we’ve been feeling great urgency to conquer all 3 at once as soon as possible. Each one is connected: you have to have money to make money (printing resumes and cover letters and paying for cell phone for companies to reach you); you have to have money to buy groceries and rent a place to live; you have to have money to buy a car and money ]]>

Embracing the hard….
This last month has been a whirlwind of emotions, changing of plans, and making of new decisions. I think I expected all of that on the surface, but the deep underlying emotions attached to all of that, I did not expect. I’ve been trying to figure out how to communicate to people about this transition…but I haven’t been able to find the words to express it myself even to God. Until today. Today, I found them. The words I found aren’t answers and they aren’t smooth…but they are honest. I think I couldn’t find a way to explain this transition because I’ve been so caught up in presenting answers and making this transition appear really smooth, when I’ve been experiencing the exact opposite.
I’ve been feeling incredibly alone, which is strange because I have more friends and family around me now than I have in the last year. I feel like the rug has been pulled from under my feet. I feel like a complete failure. I think that ev]]>
